When Luke’s father was laid off in 1989, he didn’t look for another job — he built one. He named his new company J&L Window and Door after his two kids, Jennifer and Luke, and started working.

A 12-year-old Luke spent those first summers riding along to job sites, doing cleanup work, and learning what it meant to build something from scratch. That work ethic never left him. Around 2008, Luke took the family foundation and evolved it into J&L Roofing, assembling his own crew and planting a flag in the local market which has led to the completion of over 2000 Roofs.

Most of that original crew is still with him today. Luke runs J&L the way his father taught him — show up, do it right, and stand behind your work. In other words, do what you say you’re going to do. He meets every homeowner personally and is present on every job site, not as a salesman, but as the owner with his name on the line. The company mascot is Moose, Luke’s own dog, and the inspiration behind the J&L brand. Luke chose Moose because dogs are loyal by nature — and loyalty to his customers is something Luke takes seriously on every single job. In fact, most of J&L’s work comes from referrals. It’s not a marketing angle. It’s the standard his company is built on.
